Been a while...

Whew! It has been a while since I last posted...holy smokes! Well, there have been some pretty amazing occurrences in the Dubya household....so where do I begin?

Well for starters, our oldest turned 7-years old on the 26th! Gosh how time flies by! I still remember that scared little 19-year old in that old Chicago hospital...I had no idea what I was in for, and up to the very moment I laid eyes on that precious little newborn...I had no idea what true love was!

That labor/delivery was Hell...I thought I was going to die, actually that is not too far from the truth...I did almost die.  It was a very traumatizing event...but all of the pain, the fear and the near-death part did was make me love that little girl even more!

She is truly the apple of my eye, she has grown into such a beautiful, intelligent little girl...and I am more and more impressed everyday with how smart she is!

On top of our angel celebrating her 7th birthday...there was some exciting news for this Momma...

Well on the 21st of March, I was offered (and accepted) a dream job!

I officially am employed with a pretty well-known company...but the best part is...I get to work from home! That is one major benefit of living in California, I never remember having that sort of option in Chicago or the Gulf Coast! I start my training on April 11, and will spend 3-weeks commuting everyday (weekday of course) getting trained so I can begin my job in May....that will be the first time I have had to leave my house like that, and while I am upset about having to do the training...I know the benefits of that job are well worth the 3-weeks of having to be away.

Soo...woohoo! I got a job!! :D

On top of that good news, I graduated from college on March 31st with my Bachelors of Science in Communications!!!
So as you can imagine, I am on cloud nine right about now! All the things that were falling apart the past two years are now falling together.  Hubby and I both have pretty good jobs, a nice home, food on the table and two beautiful little girls...what is there not to be thankful for?!

Speaking of...

We will be entertaining our first house guest next week! My Mother-in-Law graciously offered to come watch the house/kids while I was away at training and the Husband at work...she will be flying all the way from Florida to stay with us for that entire 3-week span! Holy smokes! Needless to say, I have been on a cleaning spree for over a week now...I want everything perfect, not just because she is my MIL but also because she will be the first person that has come to stay with us since we purchased the house!

Well that is all for now...I am sure I will be back with some more news later, I have a dishwasher to unload and dinner to serve <3

Birthdays & School & Jobs...Oh My!

Exhausted is an understatement!

So, it is no surprise that I have not been updating my little blog as much as I probably should....well there has been a LOT happening in the Dubya household.......

Abby is turning 7 this month, wow..where in the heck did the time go?! She has blossomed into such a beautiful, smart little girl and I am super happy to be her Momma <3

She has been having a dilemma lately about eating meat, anybody who knows her knows that she is a sensitive child and keys into some odd details about life.  Anywho, she was telling me the other day that she really likes the taste of meat but she doesn't like that an animal died.

Well, what can you say in a moment like that?! I mean, our entire family eats meat...always has, but I admit that I have flirted with the idea of going full-on Vegan multiple times due to the ethical side of things...but it has never been something that I have carried through with.  But I never voiced my own struggles with this subject to anybody but my Husband...so I was amazed that she was bringing this topic up.  Of course, I responded the best I could at that moment (dontcha know I have the perfect response to her now?!) but I just told her that I knew how she felt and that she does not have to eat meat if she does not want to, we could experiment and try out some yummy vegetarian food.  I am still not sure how she feels about my proposed diet change yet.

We had an earthquake here in NorCal yesterday, and it scared the bajeesus out of Addy, I did not feel a thing...but I blame that on the fact that I had earbuds in dancing around on the first floor...lol...but the next thing I knew the dogs were going berserk and Addy was running towards me screaming "Momma a Monster!!!!!" then within minutes the news was blowing up with the earthquake facts.

Which made me realize, I have seriously lived in a place prone to and experienced almost every natural disaster there is to experience (well of course I have not seen a Volcano...ok you got me there!).  I lived through Hurricane Katrina, experienced blizzards in the North, had tornadoes in the Midwest and now  live on the West Coast and have felt several earthquakes....not that this is a bragging right, but it is pretty cool huh?

I did something that I have not done in YEARS last Friday, and that was an Interview. I was nervous as all get-out which is crazy because I absolutely have no hang-ups about being around people and chatting their ears off! I think I was nervous about it because I actually do want the job, I would give anything almost for that job.  It was the perfect fit for me...6-3PM M-F from home with full benefits...how can you beat a telecommuting position?!

They said I should hear something tomorrow sooo fingers crossed for me!

Welcome to my blog!

Hi there!!

Thank you for stopping by to check out my blog! This is my first post, so bear with me...

Let me start by introducing myself, my name is Kristen but I prefer to go by Krissi...frankly I am more well-known by the name Momma by the main people in my life (you will learn all about them soon!).

I live in the Sacramento region of California in a small city called Lincoln, it is  a very beautiful little city that I have grown quite fond of! I spent a lot of time as a child in Los Angeles and always knew this was just where I belonged!  I will be graduating next month with my Bachelors of Science in Communication...woohooo!!! Soon after I will be enrolling for my MBA in Marketing (I have a love for education...what can I say?).

I moved to this area in 2010 with my husband who was, at the time, in the Air Force and was stationed at a nearby base.  We immediately fell in love and decided to purchase our first ever home within the first year of living here and the rest is history!

Now, as I mentioned above, I am known by a few names...Kristen, Krissi, Wife, Mrs...but most importantly I wear the title/name Momma <3 My two main girls gave me that title, and they are my absolute world! So let's learn a little about them!

My first born Abigail Sue, or Abby, was born March 26 in the year 2007...so she will be 7 years old next month!! Boy how time flies! Her birth was not the easiest, we are both very lucky to have survived her birth actually.  She was born in Blue Island, IL (basically Chicago).  She is a beautiful little brown hair/eyed little girl who is very wise beyond her years! She is advanced in school and proves just how quick/smart she is every day! She enjoys dance and is currently enrolled in Ballet & tap and absolutely adores both.  This is not uncommon as I spent my childhood in dance as well (ballet, pointe, lyrical, jazz).  I can only hope she takes after me and joins choir and grows fond of her singing voice.

Our second born Adalynn Skye, or Addy, was born on October 25 in the year 2010..yep, right after we were stationed in California! She is almost 3 1/2 and boy is she a handful! She is our little green eyed girl with bright green eyes and dirty blonde/light brown hair.  Full of spunk and energy, she is a very bright little girl who surprises me every day with her genuine kindness and caring nature.  She is my helper bee and spend the day following my every move, trying to help me and be just like me! She is not in any dance course or school yet, but I have been considering tumbling courses for her soon! I am sure there will be updates about that very subject in the future.

So that is our spectacular little family! Now brace yourselves....haha....we also share our home with a "small zoo" as I like to call it...you will learn more about me as the days go on, I am a HUGE supporter of animals rights and protecting the furry members of society.  So with that said, let me introduce you to some of our four-legged friends!

Rocko - a black & tan chihuahua, he was the first member of our family so is obviously the oldest.  He was actually purchased from a lady in a nearby city as he looked identical to my childhood dog who was mauled by my neighbors labradors.  Rocko is a good boy, very loyal dog who just likes to hang out and sleep most of the day.

Maximus (or Max) - a Golden Retriever was the second member of our family, we got Max soon after we purchased our home...I mean, what kind of All-American family could we be without the token Golden Retriever?!

CoCo (Aka Diva Dog) - a brown chihuahua who is basically my little shadow.  She is a miracle pup as she is a survivor of Parvo (she has it at a very young age, we spent a few weeks battling that horrible disease and she pulled through!).

Paco - a brown and white chihuahua was an unexpected surprise! We were told by our former veterinarian that CoCo could not get pregnant and to not worry about having her fixed as there was no worry.  Well, she became pregnant and out of that unexpected pregnancy we got Paco!

Cali - a Rottweiler.  Last but not least is our girl Cali.  She was rescued last summer from a terrible situation and impending euthanasia.  She was found roaming the wilderness alone, in 110+ degree heat with significant injuries to her hind legs.  She was brought to the shelter and, because of her injuries, nobody wanted to adopt her.  I could not leave here there to die...so I rescued her.  She is a joy to be around, a wonderful dog who fit right in with the family and has won all of our hearts!!

So now you have met our dog family :) but wait, there's more!

Meet our kitties!! Both rescues from terrible situations

Sparta, our first rescue, was found in horrible conditions...he was flea ridden and being starved.  He is our big boy!

Then we have Bitticles (named by our youngest) who was found in a dumpster nearby, abandoned and left for dead at only 5 weeks...she is a wonderful kitty who enjoy lounging in the sun.

We also have our beautiful bird Kiwi who is an Indian Ringneck...but of course, he has chosen me as the only person he likes in the house...so technically he is my bird....lol

We also have a snake (Diablo), hedgehog (Sonicette) and a beta fish (Jaws)

Whew!! Exhausted yet?! So there is our entire family, yes I know you are thinking "that is an awful lot of pets!!" "How can she possibly care for all of those animals??" "Where does she keep all of them??"

So let me clear those points up....

1) I am a WAHM, meaning I work from home..I am never gone unless it is to shop or for the occasional outing...never more than a couple hours though. We live in a very large 5 bedroom home with nice acreage behind it, so they get lots of exercise! All of our babies are indoors (except to potty, if that is applicable).  They have their own crate that they all enjoy snuggling in at night (no they are not closed in, it is just where they all feel safe).  They are all fed premium foods, best of the brands actually.

"They must be expensive!" The price tags can add up, yes that is very true..but luckily, my work is rather lucrative from home and my husband has a very nice career as well.  So we are ok!

Soooo anywho, now that we have the introductions out of the way...I am glad you are checking out my blog and reading about my crazy beautiful life! Mainly this blog will just be a place that I ramble on about the day - or weeks - happenings with my family...and the shenanigans they all get into (trust me there are TONS of stories!).

Thank you for stopping by!

Krissi
